TAKING CARE OF ME

For anyone who is a caregiver, we all know that we put everyone else’s needs above our own.  We know in our hearts that we need to be taking better care of ourselves so that we can continue to give to our loved ones, but we fall short when it comes to ourselves.

If you have followed my blog for any length of time, you know that I have been dealing with a hoarse voice for several months with no relief.  Initial testing has shown that I have nodules on my vocal chords, further testing will determine the extent and sizes.  The new doctor that I am now seeing is quite certain that this problem is stress related.

STRESS????   Me????

I don’t know how he came up with that diagnosis!!

He gave me 3 words of advice in order to get healthy again.

  1. No smoking….Not an issue!
  2. Diet ……I try, but not very successful.
  3. Exercise…..When???

For the exercise he said he would like to see 30 minutes every day, but would be happy with 40 minutes 3 days a week to start.  He said he didn’t care what it was, but find something that I would stick with.

So today while reading “Blessings & Prayers for Caregivers” by Annetta Delinger & Karen Boerger, I found a couple bits of inspiration.

STRENGTH WARM – UP

Stretch up to God.

Reach out and be His hands.

Bow down to respect.

Kick sin away.

Jump for Joy and praise God!

  2. All of us could practice that exercise. I have a friend who was triggered onto health problems (gluten intolerance only one) by stresses–getting electrical shock, mother’s ill health, family stresses. She began to walk, pointed time alone, & to write. Helped her immensely. Got her a new career. I’m learning from both of you. Hugs, CurtissAnn
